For 21 years, Cliff Dedeaux has been an occupational therapist. One of his specialties is working with patients with low vision.

With April being Low Vision Month, I invited Cliff to have a sit down!  I was shocked at how much I learned.  Cliff’s goal is helping patients achieve the highest level of independence.  From medication management to helping the patient cook, Cliff brings independence to many lives.

“People lose vision for diagnosis such as glaucoma, diabetic, retinopathy, muscular degeneration, and other neurological conditions,” stated Cliff.  7.2 million people in the US are affected by low vision or blindness.  This figure is set to increase by 72% over the next 11 years dues to baby boomers.

I was amazed at the “small” suggestions  which truly make life easier.  From labeling medicine bottles with raised dots to explaining the changes needed for better lighting in a home, Enhabit Home Health Services provides this service.

“Enhabit Home Health Services provide a large array of services for our community…helping others is our passion,” explained Jennifer Warren clinic manager.

Enhabit offers skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

A referral from a doctor is needed to receive the services.

I just have to tell ya’ll!!! I received a phone call the day after the interview with Cliff and Jennifer.  Cliff had visited “their” home.  The lady of the house was ecstatic with the information learned which she felt would make a tremendous difference in her husband’s life.

The office is located between Dr. Pruitt’s office and the old ER entrance.  (Back side of clinic) 310 2nd Street SE Magee..phone number 601-849-1647.

Please take time to listen to the interview.  No matter your age or “eye” condition, you will learn something.
