At the Tuesday morning Chamber of Commerce Membership Banquet, President Nancy Brown recognized Boswell resident Bernard Johnson.  Bernard created a piece of pottery especially for Commissioner of Agriculture Andy Gipson.  Mr. Barnard was on hand to present the Mississippi-shaped piece to Mr. Gipson.

The 5-Oaks Pottery collection features hand-made and hand-painted pottery pieces created by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supported through Boswell Regional Center’s Community Services program. 5-Oaks Pottery pieces are available for purchase Monday–Friday at Boswell’s Main Street location in Magee, across from the Magee Fire Department in the old Fred’s building.

One of our talented pottery makers, Bernard Johnson, created the piece presented to Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson. Bernard lives in Magee and is a proud supporter of the Magee Trojans. For the past six years, he has served as one of the managers for the Magee Trojans High School football team. On behalf of 5-Oaks Pottery and Bernard, it is an honor to have been chosen to create this unique piece for Commissioner Gipson.
