The Covington County Genealogy and Historical Society will present the Six Town Choctaw program on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Seminary Depot, Seminary, MS. Wade Hays will be speaking about Choctaw Six Town that was near Legion Lake in Simpson County, Mississippi. At 10:00 AM. His GGG-Grandfather and his cousin lived very near Six Town or maybe in Six Town. If time permits he will touch on early Simpson County. He has loved history and especially Egyptology for a long time and in the past year or so has become fascinated with his own genealogy and history. Wade stated “I had no idea of the local history around me, or how my family was a part of that history” Wade Hays is a lifelong resident of Mendenhall; he graduated Mendenhall High School in 1980 and immediately entered the U S Army. He served as a Radio Teletype and communication specialist, trained in electrical, electronics, and radio, achieving the rank of E5 Sergeant/ Specialist in just over 24 months. After serving his Country, computers and networking was a natural path. His love for seeing new places and new challenges led him to Commercial truck driving and a Class A license with full endorsements. He drove 18 wheelers for eight years, his favorite job. Wade is married to Sandra, wife of 33 years, and they have three children. He is very proud of the fact that he helped his wife go back to college and finish her degree and she and all three children are teachers. His children are the first and only college graduates in his family. All interested persons are invited to attend this free program.
