Good morning my family. May you share these words with someone today.

Dear Friends,
Sometimes it is easy to forget how powerful the tongue is. It is far more powerful than we realize. Lately I have been convicted with how I have been using my tongue,
Proverbs 18:21 says:
“The tongue has the power of life and death.”
This means that God has given us the ability to add life to someone or take some of their life away: To build them up or tear them down. Curse them or bless them. We can make them feel better or worse. With a few choice words we can easily start an argument, destroy a person or bring peace and hope. We can rip into a person and devastate their self-image or make them stronger in who God wants them to be. Give pain or give joy.
When I am around someone, I have a choice. I can either make them feel glad that they talked me or feel worse for having done so. This includes what I say to my wife, kids, friends, or co-workers. When I evaluate how I have been using my tongue lately I realize I can do so much better.
How are you doing with the use of your tongue? What kind of grade would you give yourself? How do people feel when they leave your presence? How about your spouse, roommate or co-workers?
God wants you and me to realize that this wonderful gift He has given to us has incredible power to instill hope, encouragement and strength to others. What you say to someone can make a difference that lasts a life-time!
When God speaks to us, either through His word or His Spirit, it is always words of hope, encouragement, forgiveness, or strength. Jesus said:
“The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” (John 6:63)
