Motivational Speaker Dwight Owens, captured the full attention of students at Simpson County Technical Center with his journey of turning devastation into passion. Owens shared his story of recovery from being rear-ended by a drunk driver leaving him paralyzed from the waist down at the age of only 23. Owens challenged students to recognize the potential damage caused by using drugs or alcohol, including citing how his life was forever changed due to irresponsible drinking. He also encouraged students to find joy in life despite difficult circumstances. Owens has worked for several years helping people with disabilities learn to live independently.
