Magee Police Announce Arrests in Two Separate Investigations

The Magee Police Department has announced the arrests of three individuals in connection with two unrelated incidents, according to information released by Chief Denis J. Borges.

Desserae Vaughn and were arrested and charged with:

  • Child Abuse
  • Child Neglect
  • Deprivation of Substantial Necessities
  • Possession of Controlled Substances
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Animal Cruelty (three counts)

In connection with that case, the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office is also conducting an ongoing homicide investigation involving the death of an infant who was reportedly in the care of the two individuals. Authorities say the investigation remains active, and no additional information is being released by the Magee Police Department at this time.

Jason Jochumson

In a separate incident, Jason Jochumson was arrested and charged with:

  • Felony Fleeing
  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
  • Resisting Arrest
  • No Driver’s License

Chief Borges expressed appreciation to the multiple law enforcement agencies that assisted in the apprehension and investigation efforts, including the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department, Mendenhall Police Department, Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, Rankin County Emergency Operations Center, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Capital Police and its Crime Intelligence Division, and the Florence Police Department K-9 Unit.

“As these cases move through the court process, the charges may be upgraded, reduced, or remain the same,” Borges stated.

The Magee Police Department emphasized its continued commitment to protecting the community and enforcing the law in a fair and professional manner.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
