(May 26, 1928 – September 7, 2023)

Gayther Franklin Craft, 95 of Magee, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving daughter, Shirley, and son-in-law, Tony. He was born on Saturday, May 26, 1928, in Magee, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church, 2021 Simpson Hwy 540, Magee, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church. The burial will follow at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi. Bro. Carnell Rankin and Bro. Wade Mathis will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Mr. Gayther was a member of Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Magee, Mississippi.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend.  He served our country in the United States Air Force in 1951 till 1955, worked at the International Harvester Plant in Memphis, TN for thirty years.  After retirement, he moved back to Magee where he enjoyed working on his farm raising cattle and operating a hay business.  He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Kirby Craft; father, Alonzo Franklin Craft; mother, Fannie Bell Cockrell Craft; brothers, Durwood Craft and Donald Craft; and sisters, Leatha Jean Craft Fletcher and Velma Craft Anderson.

Survivors include his one loving daughter, Shirley Craft Yelvington (Tony) of Magee, MS; three grandchildren, Amber Rose Meier of Mt. Juliet, TN, Amanda Nicole Spencer (Harrell) of Walls, MS and Ashley Michelle Chafin (Drew) of Olive Branch, MS; seven great-grandchildren, Taytum Jackson McCann of Mt. Juliet, TN, Andrew Franklin Chafin of Olive Branch, MS, Katelyn Tresa Spencer Samuels (Brandon) of Camp Lejeune, NC, Markayla Breann Spencer of Walls, MS, Collin Lee Chafin of Olive Branch, MS, Ryan Frazier Chafin of Olive Branch, MS and Kylee Priest of Brentwood, TN;  great-great-grandson, Austin David Huebner of Walls, MS; one brother, Murl Craft (Jo Ann) of CA; and a host of other family members and friends.

  Pallbearers will be Ronnie Craft, Craig Fletcher, Taytum McCann, Jimmie Adcox, Chuck Stevens, and Bentley Steed.
