06/03/2022 Update

Late Thursday afternoon (June 2) E3 emergency response group arrived.  The Magee Fire Department was released.  The firemen had stabilized everything and E3 group were going to off load the product to another tanker and then clean up.  At 19:41, the scene was declared under control and released back to Loves.  (Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie)

DEQ arrived Thursday afternoon to address the spill at Love Truck Stop.  Clean up will be handled by DEQ.  (As I receive more information—will report)

Around noon Thursday, June 2, 2022, Love Truck Stop reported a leaking poisonous substance.  The Magee Fire Department, the Magee Police Department, and Simpson County Emergency manager John Kilpatrick reported to the spill.

Love Truck Stop has been shut down for hours,  due to the toxicity of the substance. All personal were instructed not to inhale the substance or get on clothing.

Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie reported that 45000 pounds of hazard material is on the truck.  “The truck has been pulled forward to beneath the fuel canopy because of expected rain which will magnify the issues greatly,” stated Valadie.  Valadie also explained that evacuation was necessary for areas in the business and surrounding area because of the poison gas.

The Main rear valve has problems with two seals. The Interior seal failed.  The exterior valve is failing.

The Hazard team from Jackson should arrive shortly to assist in addressing the problem.

As additional information is received, we will report.
