As I drove into the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex, I thought Simpson County and Magee we have a jewel right here in our great town of Magee.  Not only do we have nice facilities, but we have people that care and support each other.  People were driving around trying to find a parking space…the place was hopping with kids full of energy and enthusiasm for the sport of baseball.  I saw county tags from as far away as Jefferson Davis, Lauderdale, Jones, Covington, Lawrence, Jasper and I could keep going on and on.

1..2..3..Parker Strong!!!  That is what was heard through out the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex Sunday afternoon, February 18th especially on field one where the Simpson County Cardinal 11U were playing.  People from other fields came over to see the highlight of the day… Parker Pierce throw the first pitch of the game between the Simpson County Cardinals 11U and the Young Guns.  The weather was perfect as Parker threw the ball with all his might at the 1:30pm game.

One of the moms told me she has never seen a team more like a family than the Simpson County Cardinals.  I told her these coaches, from what I have seen from the sidelines, love the kids and love the game…and it shows.  The young Cardinals were pumped for Parker and Parker was pumped to see his team win 6-2 during the early afternoon game.  While speaking to Parker’s mom during the game, she said it does Parker good to be able to get out and just “be a kid” and be with his teammates.  Parker was able to cheer on his team to victories from the dugout on Saturday.
