JacobRossWolfpack capture second in MACJC tournament
WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Wolfpack finished in second place after the final round of the MACJC Event #2 held at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Raymond and Wolf Hollow Golf Course in Wesson. The Wolfpack started off the day in third place shooting an opening round 309, but rallied to shot a final round of 294 for a two-day total of 603 eight shots behind winner Mississippi Gulf Coast (299-296 – 595).
Meridian finished in third place (306-313 – 610), followed by East Central (314-309 – 623), Northwest Mississippi (329-304 – 633), East Mississippi (316-318 – 634), Hines (323-318 – 641), Northeast Mississippi (323-327 – 650), Itawamba (340-331 – 671) and Jones County (361-341 -702).
Individually, red-shirt freshman Jacob Ross of Brookhaven captured second place with a two-day total of 146 (76-70). Sophomore Ryan Desormeaux of Broussard, Louisiana (78-74 – 152) and Gregory Causey of Petal (77-75 – 152) finished in tied for seventh place. Will Lee of Brookhaven finished tied for 11th at 153 (78-75), Drake Nelson of Monticello, competing as an individual, finished tied for 22nd at 158 (79-79), Cade Caughman of Mendenhall, also competing as an individual, finished at 167 (88-79), and Tyler Jelks 170 (90-80).
For the second tournament in a row, Grant Mottler of Mississippi Gulf Coast took medalist honors with a two-day total of 143 (72-71). Joining Mottler on the All-Tournament Team were teammates Conner Entriken and Danny De Los Santos, Co-Lin’s Ross, Andrew Joiner of East Central and Jordan Cole of Hinds.
Co-Lin returns to action on March 12-14 in the 12th Annual Ron Marshall Spring Fling Tournament at Goose Pond Colony Golf Club in Scottsboro, Alabama.
