Update:  I have just spoken with Dr. Paul Lawrence, Simpson County School Superintendent, he has assured me that all avenues and protocol with the incident are being handled. through proper channels.  Dr. Lawrence will interview on MageeNews.com  next week.  (Time is to be announced.)

Earlier in the week,  an altercation between two female middle school students occurred on the Magee Middle School campus.  Many of you probably saw the video which was widely circulated on Facebook.

Happy Birthday, Harleigh Honea!!! 11 Years old!

Happy Birthday, Harleigh Honea!!! 11 Years old!

May 5, 2025

My heart is saddened.  When students, or for that matter anyone, decides fighting is the answer, we’ve got problems

The girls are 13 & 15.  The older girl’s mother gets in the fight at the end.  One of my questions is “why was this mother on campus, why is our campus so open, and where were the authorities?”  (The mother has been banded from Magee School campus.)

MageeNews.com is beginning a series on Safety in Magee Schools.  We will be exploring changes needed and what rules are in place to address this and other situations.

One of my sources told me the principal said, “since we have no proof of who said what, there will be no repercussions.”  I was under the impression fighting of any sort had repercussions.  (check the link at the bottom of the page)

*** I was just informed the 15 year old was expelled and papers had been made against the mother.  Because the incident was more of an assault, the 13 year old was not expelled.

I was also told the Magee Police were not called.  That is strange to me.  My understanding is if any fight takes place on campus the police are called.  (I will be doing some digging to get answers to these and other questions.  (The school is working with the Magee Police Department)

The young girl received multiple punches to her face.  In the video, it appears the mother pushes the 13 year old to the ground and pulls her up by her hair.  The video also shows a male adult doing nothing to stop the fight.  (I am anxious to know what is the school policy on teachers/coaches/personal breaking up a fight.)

Pray for our schools.  Pray for our students.  Pray for our parents.

To quote a good friend of mine Winston Mullins, “a school only needs one rule…do the right thing!”

We must as parents and grandparents teach our children “the right thing.”

After reviewing the school handbook and video myself. I see that the school is violating their own policies. Sad, just sad!

Not to mention that last year a student had a gun at the high school and it was kept quite. Another student was on social media threatening to go to school the next day and shoot black children. School authorities were notified about it and again, nothing was did about that situation. Also there was a student at the elementary school that had a knife threatening a little girl and again, that situation was NOT handled like it should have been handled. With things like this keeps happening and getting swept under the rug, it’s just a matter of time before something really bad happens. Things like this NEEDS to be addressed before it’s too late. Not just kept quiet because of who they are.

Why in the world do you not want parents on school grounds. We pay for everything that goes on there. I’m not saying the woman should arrested but not band from school . The democrats have run public schools long enough. Move over a let the teachers teach.

    Band or banned ?
Prayers for the school system, teachers and parents ‘to do the right thing’.
