I learned it is hot…really hot…and everyone needs to be very careful!
Friday, July 21, 2017, the Pioneer Health Services Inc. Building was auctioned on the south side of the Courthouse. Substitute Trustee Marcus M Wilson conducted the auction. Mr. Wilson read the entire legal description of the property being sold. Only one bid was submitted, Trustmark in the amount of $2.511,000.00 (2.5 million not sure I got those zeros correct!). The Trustmark bid was accepted. Pioneer held the Deed of Trust and Trustmark was the Beneficiary.
Ok, there is a lot about the foreclosure process and bankruptcy I do not understand. (Even after talking to a bunch of bankers!) But the bottom line is Trustmark now owns the Pioneer Health Building.
I received a tour of the Magee Elementary School Friday. Oh my goodness, when I entered the building I almost cried! Ya’ll the facility is fabulous! What a wonderful place to learn!!! The building is huge! The details with storage, color scheme and safety are tremendous. The County School Board has not officially taken possession of the building. Don’t get upset…this is a good thing. Greg Paes and his group are holding the builders “feet to the fire” to have everything as it should be. Hopefully, the building will meet every standard set forth from the beginning and become “ours” by Monday. If everything goes as planned, teachers will begin moving in on Tuesday, which will take several days. Plans are to have the Open House the first week in August but no firm date has been set. Let’s don’t get mad about the delay in the Open House. Greg and group are checking these details for the benefit of your child. No one more than Greg and gang wants to have the Open House. They are anxious for you to see the fruits of their labor. Let’s be patient and not criticize the delay. I promise you, they are working hard to swing open the doors for everyone!
Below are some pictures I made Friday. The pic with the red line is the area of the storm shelter. The floor pattern was changed in this area to allow for a visual guidance for the students when moving to the storm shelter area. One picture shows the ceiling of the storm shelter which is made of a special material as well as lowered. The picture of the window shows the special windows in that area.
The color scheme is great—primary colors. The gym is wonderful! 2 basketball goals, a lighted stage, a great sound system and an entrance for parents when an event is held in that area.
The cafeteria is of course state of the art. Friday, the room was filled with chairs and desk waiting to be placed in the class rooms.
The media room has computer stations, tables, and excellent lighting.
The library is fabulous…even has a small stage area. The music room opens into the area where programs are performed. No more walking in the rain to get to an event.
Buses will load and unload at the back. The area is completely covered with awnings. The landscaping is beautiful.
Playground equipment will be brought from the “old” elementary to add to the pieces now at the new elementary.
I imagine some of this sounds like a bunch of “run on sentences.” But, I can’t tell you how moved and how impressed I am with our new school. Sure, we’ll still have problems and issues…but we are on the right track. I know our leadership at the elementary will hold everyone accountable for the upkeep of these building.
I will continue to share details about the school.
I believe that is most of what I learned yesterday! Ha
Stay tuned for more!
