At Thursday night’s School Board meeting, the architectural firm reported there are major problems with the soil at the new Magee Elementary School site. Several springs are located on the site. The board was extremely upset because soil studies were performed on the site. To bring in dirt, which might not even take care of the problem, would cost approximately $100,000…but the added dirt does not mean a guarantee that the soil will be conducive for a building.

Another problem discussed was the requirement by the City of Magee that an area in the school be storm secure. If the requirement is met, the school could be looking at an additional $300,000.

The video of the Thursday night meeting is on the website under Schools and County News.
