First Baptist Church of Magee children and youth attended the state Bible drill at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS, on Thursday, April 14, 2016. All children and youth passed the drill with flying colors!
All children and youth had completed and passed the church and association drills prior to the state competition. Bible drill participants cannot miss more than four calls at the state level in order to receive the superior title. Bible drills are provided by the Mississippi Baptist Convention.
Youth driller from FBC Magee, Sarah Berry, received a plaque for four years in student drills. Sarah has also completed all three years of children’s drills. Nine year driller and senior, Alexis Bishop, received a special study Bible from the Mississippi Baptist Convention for completing all nine years of Bible drills. Alexis has received superior at the state level every year since her 4th grade year.
At the end of the drill for FBC Magee children, the driller asked each participant to share one of their favorite things about Bible drill this year. One of the FBC Magee drillers, Benjamin Kennedy, stated, “My favorite part of Bible drill was learning more about Jesus through the verses we learned.” Bible drills have impacted many young people over the years. Bible drills helps children to realize the importance of hiding God’s Word in their hearts.
