What a day for Magee!

Friday marked a truly exciting and historic moment for our city.

We are proud to officially share that Magee has been named a Designated Main Street Community through the Mississippi Main Street Association. This honor reflects months of dedication, hard work, and a shared vision for the future of our downtown.

Amanda Blakeney, Merika Duncan, Mayor Mark Grubbs, Tiffany Kinslow, Allison Clark, Kristen Curlee, Allyson Berch, Skip Russell, and Lee Maddox

As Mississippi Main Street Executive Director Jeannie Zieren so beautifully said, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18). That verse speaks directly to who we are—a community rooted in faith, guided by purpose, and willing to put in the work to see Magee grow and flourish.

This achievement belongs to so many. To our elected officials, business owners, volunteers, and citizens—thank you. Thank you for believing in this vision, for showing up, and for celebrating this milestone together. Your support is what makes Magee special.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our Design Committee for the countless hours invested to make this designation possible and for helping create such a meaningful ceremony. We are also grateful to the student leaders from Simpson Academy who served with professionalism and heart, and to Voice of Hope for their hard work in setting up and making sure everything ran smoothly.

Magee is a wonderful place to live, work, and visit—and we are proud to call it home. Today is more than just a celebration of how far we’ve come—it’s the beginning of where we’re headed.

And friends, the future is bright.

Be sure to mark your calendars for what’s ahead:
• Rock the Block – April 25
• Kentucky Derby Fundraiser – May 2 at the PriorityOne Bank Green Space in Downtown Magee

The work continues… and we’re just getting started.
