Louise Carter, mother of Bubba, John, and Bill Carter, passed away Sunday, March 31 at 5:10 AM.  Louise has been a fixture in Magee all my life.  I always admired Louise.  Her husband died when she was a young mother of three.  She raised three boys by herself…and let me say successful boys.

Louise buried a husband and a son.  John, who graduated with me at Magee High School, died about 20 years ago.  Again, Louise kept right on going.

She loved Bubba and Bill.  She loved her daughter-in-laws.  She loved her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

April 8, 2026

Before Louise got sick, she rode around in her car all day long starring out the window at whomever she passed!  We would all say, here comes Louise…get out of the way!

Louise spent the last years of her life at Hillcrest.  The devotion Bubba and Bill showed to their mother, gives me hope that boys will take care of their mama.  These boys took excellent care of Louise.

Pictured with Louise is her granddaughter Keleigh Carter Cleveland.

Keleigh posted the information on FaceBook earlier today.  With Keleigh’s permission, I am reposting:

My precious Lou Lou danced with Jesus yesterday morning around 5:10am. I was with her and it was the saddest but most beautiful experience of my life. She lived a long, healthy life and I feel blessed to have had her in my life for so long. She passed on so many incredible qualities to me and I will forever be grateful. Her favorite things to do were cook and shop and she did these things all day, everyday, and did them well! She was queen of finding a bargain and she knew quality better than anyone 😊. If something didn’t meet her expectations she didn’t think twice about letting you know. I think the most common word used to describe Lou was “Feisty” and man was she feisty. She was full of grit and tenacity and was the hardest worker I know. She believed in being truthful and honest and owning your mistakes. She raised 3 boys by herself who became strong, independent, successful men and that, I know, was her proudest accomplishment. She loved her boys so much! I also know she loved Jesus and her heart was always focused on Him. Lou Lou you inspire me to persevere in hard times, enjoy the good times to the fullest and love unconditionally. Thank you for allowing me to be with you in your final days and moments on earth. This time I had with you will forever be cherished. I can’t wait to see you again in heaven!

A full obituary will be published when received.

Louise S. Carter passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Hillcrest Nursing Center.  She was born on November 11, 1923, to her parents, Allen Benjamin Stubblefield and Martha Elizabeth Williams in Memphis, TN.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  Funeral services are at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 2, at First United Methodist Church in Magee, with visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.  Interment will be at Magee City Cemetery.
