2025 Heart Walk exceeds goal!
William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine hosted the Pine Belt Heart Walk on Nov. 8. The weather was perfect and more than 300 walkers turned out from all over the area. Together, they exceeded their goal, raising $120,290 to fight heart disease.
The focus of this year’s Heart Walk fund-raisers is CPR education. The American Heart Association reports that nine people out 10 who suffer cardiac arrests outside of a hospital die, yet immediate CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival. The AHA’s goal is to give people the training they need to act during a cardiac emergency.
Dr. Italo Subbarao, dean of the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine, was chairman of the 2025 Heart Walk – which was sponsored by more than a dozen companies from across the Pine Belt.
