Wayne Harris, 67 of Harrisville, Mississippi passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born Sunday, September 30, 1956 in Jackson, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Harrisville Baptist Church in Harrisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 11:00am at Harrisville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Harrisville Cemetery. Bro. Cecil Hathorn, Bro. Richard Mayfield, and Bro. Scott Crawford will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401
Wayne was a Hospital Administrator for Simpson General Hospital for 25 years, and after retirement he finished his career as an RN at River Oaks Hospital serving various roles throughout the hospital. He was a member and Deacon for 40 years at Harrisville Baptist Church where he served faithfully in many different ways. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His favorite place to go was the Smokey Mountains. He enjoyed many vacations there with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Posey Harris; brother, Bruce Harris; and mother-in-law, Corine Brock.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sue Brock Harris; son, Brad Harris (Melanie); daughters, Kacie Harris Furlow (Matthew) and Stephanie Harris Bowen (Jason); father, James Harris; grandchildren, Brock Bowen, Jacob Bowen, Samuel Bowen, Elyza Jo Furlow, Hazel Furlow and Reed Furlow; brother, Glenn Harris (Julie); aunt, Norine Fielder; and a host of other family members.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Furlow, Jason Bowen, William Buckley, Jeremy Buckley, Jonathan Buckley, Josh Harris, Taylor Harris, and Charlie Westmoreland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Bowen, Jacob Bowen, Samuel Bowen, Reed Furlow, Shane Fielder, Troy Griffin, Grady Dear, and Douglas Eichwurtzle.
Special music will be performed by Ken Barlow, Edmond Berry, and Thomas Hathorn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loving Hearts Food Pantry at Harrisville Baptist Church.
