In a letter received by the DuBard School, the Walmart Foundation stated that the organization believes the DuBard School is doing important work in the Pine Belt community and is proud to support the efforts.

DuBard School students use a range of educational applications on iPads as a supplement to their classroom lessons. In addition to providing support in strengthening language abilities, apps can help with other skills such as memory and fine motor movement.

“Since students at DuBard School are in intensive language-learning lessons all day, utilizing educational games on iPads at the end of the day gives them a little bit of a break but also keeps them learning and reinforces what is being taught in the classroom,” said DuBard School director Dr. Maureen Martin. “We’re grateful for the support from the Walmart Foundation so that we can have technology like this available for our students.”

In addition to serving as an educational tool, the iPads and computers give students the opportunity to improve their skills in the use of current technology.

The DuBard School’s enrollment program is available to families at no cost, but is only partially funded by the state and relies on grants and private donations to provide services to its 80 full-time students.
