Vernon T. “Dick” Pruitt, Sr, 83, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Magee General Hospital.
He was born on May 13, 1932 to his parents, the late John T. Pruitt and Sarah Ann (May) Pruitt.
Dick was a lifelong resident of Simpson County and a local dairy farmer for over 27 years. He retired from MS State Hospital, Dept. of Transportation, in Pearl, MS. He was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He was married to the love of his life, Vonnell Little Pruitt, who precedes him in death; along with his parents; brother, John Albert Pruitt and granddaughter, Brandy Pruitt.
He is survived by two sons; Vernon T. Pruitt, Jr. (Shelia), Vincent Pruitt (Faye); daughter, Sharon Pruitt; seven grandchildren, Kirk Pruitt, Hunter Pruitt, Lee Stringer (Crystal), Richard Creel (Jessica), Josh Stringer, Drew Pruitt (Connie), Keisha Luckey (Jay); eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Eloise Pruitt Stubbs and Doris Ann Pruitt Cook.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 10, 2015 at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 11, at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Old Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Mendenhall, MS.
