USM’s Three-Game-Win streak Snapped, While MS State Sends Auburn Packing in Overtime in a Thrilling 10th Week of College Football

Going into Week 10, Southern Miss had a lot on the table. Coming off of a huge win against Louisiana, a win this week would make the Golden Eagles bowl eligible for the first time since the 2019 season. It would also be the first time Southern Miss would have a 4-game-win streak since 2015. Ultimately, in front of a light crowd, on a rainy Saturday, Southern Miss fell to the Georgia State Panthers 42-14. The Southern Miss offense and defense lagged throughout the game, and this turned out to be the largest point difference in a game USM has lost so far this season.

In Week 8, Mississippi State fell to (at the time) #6 Alabama 30-6, and also fell out of the Top 25 Rankings. In Week 9 the Bulldogs had a bye week to prepare for Auburn this weekend. In front of a nearly packed Davis-Wade Stadium, Mississippi State led Auburn throughout the first half but slowed back down in the second, forcing the game to go into overtime, both teams tied 33-33. However, the Bulldogs fought hard and came out on top of the Tigers 39-33.

Let’s Check Out More Scores from Week 10 in Mississippi:

  1. #11 Ole Miss (8-1): Bye Week
  2. Jackson State (8-0) @ Texas Southern (4-4): 41-14
  3. Alcorn State (3-5) vs. Prairie View (5-3): 23-16 OT
  4. MS Valley State (0-8) vs. Alabama A&M (3-5): 30-20
  5. Delta State (9-1) vs. West Georgia (6-2): 52-42
  6. MS College (4-5) @ West Alabama (4-5): 16-38
  7. Belhaven (7-1) @ Brevard (4-4): 20-7
  8. Millsaps (3-5) vs. Trinity (8-0): 7-53
