David Dunn, City of Magee recreational and zoning director, came by MageeNews.com for a sit down about what is going on in Magee—at the Sportsplex!

Tournaments…tournaments …tournaments are keeping the Jimmy Clyde Sportsplex booked almost every weekend.  According to Dunn, the MAIS has booked South State Softball September 26 & 28.  The Overall MAIS Softball tournament is scheduled for October 3rd & 5th.  “These tournaments bring in a lot of people to our city,” stated Dunn.  The hotels as well as restaurants and other retail establishments have an influx of business during this time.

Travel baseball teams play in Magee almost every weekend.  Sometimes these tournaments can have as many as 65 teams!

Soccer registration is still available in Magee.  Contact David if you are interested. (I believe the ages are 3-12 but not sure!)

David reported the Splash Pad did better this summer.  Because the pad is “high tech” if any little thing goes wrong, it will shut off!  Dunn feels the fans will enjoy the splash pad during tournament time.

Volunteers are needed for the managing of the tournaments.  Anyone interested in keeping score books or announcing a ball game needs to contact David at City Hall.

Check out David’s video for more info.
