Friday, Magee traveled to Sumrall. Number 1 in 3-A vs Number 1 in 4-A. After both teams scored in the first inning, Magee had a breakdown in the 4th inning and gave up 6 runs to a very good Sumrall team to lose 9-1. Adam May was starting pitcher and Brennon McNair came in to finish the game. Adam May led the hitting category with 2 hits. Chandler Pittman, Brennon McNair and Jordan Magee each had a hit.
Even though there was an inconsistent strike zone, you still can’t give good teams free bases. We competed well early, just never got hot with the bats.
Saturday Magee played Raleigh in a JV/V game at Home due to field conditions at Raleigh. The game scheduled for April 10 will now be played at Raleigh. Magee wins JV game 5-0 and Varsity game 12-2.
Ty West would pick up the win for the Trojans as the starting pitcher.
Magee started the hitting off early scoring 3 runs when Cayden Bridges led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a solo home run, followed by a double by Kaden Harper, a triple by Jordan Magee and a single by Matthew Russell. Magee added 1 run in the 3rd, 4 runs in the 4th, 3 runs in the 5th and 1 run in the 6th innings. Magee had 14 hits with Matthew Russell having 3 hits, Kaden Harper had 2 hits, Doc McLaurin had 2 hits, Jordan Magee with 2 hits and Ty West with two hits.
We adjusted to missing a couple of players, but the guys stepped up and played well. Really had some guys break out of their slumps and looked good swinging the bats today. Defensively we played well.
Next game is at Florence Monday at 5&7.
