Truck Driving School Coming To Magee

A Truck Driving School is coming to the City of Magee, according to the announcement made by Mayor Dale Berry during the regular scheduled board meeting Tuesday, August 18, 2020.

The school will be located on the south end of town on the North bound lane of Hwy 49 below the firing range. Date and time are to be announced. A portable office will be on site. Citizens will be able to receive certified CDL license.

The asphalt paving job on Main Street is projected to began the first or second weekend of September. The company wants to complete the job on the weekend during slower traffic times.

Monday, September 7, 2020, City Hall will be closed in observance of Labor Day Weekend. Mayor Berry reminds the citizens of Magee there will no city garbage collection on this day.

The board was presented a rough draft of the 2020-2021 budget. There is no millage increase at this time. A final draft will be presented to the board at a later date.

The board approved hiring Candice McGill as a full time dispatcher. McGill is presently part time and will move to a full time position.

The board approved for Bobby Applewhite to attend a CE class on September 15 and 16th.

The City is currently taking application for a Superintendent position. As of today,  13 applications have been received. The application period runs through August 31, 2020.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned to go into executive session to discuss personnel issues.

    It says you can get your CDL license, will you be able to Renew your already CDL license?.

    Thank you Sue. I really appreciate all that you do. My husband has CDL and works in Magee. He has to renew his CDL in November. I know he can go to Richland but it would be a Blessing if he could do it in Magee. Again Thank You for all you do and Magee News for updating us on what’s going on in our WONDERFUL County.
