Louis Steven Cox, affectionately known as Steve to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at the age of 63. He was born on January 8, 1962, in Morton, MS, to Johnny Cox and Elner Mae Hosey Cox.

Steve was a devoted father to his sons, Jake Cox (Cameron), Kolby Cox, and Jeremy Cox. His role as a grandfather to Myles Cox was one he cherished with all his heart. Steve shared a special bond with his only brother, Jamie Cox.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Johnny Cox and Elner Mae Hosey Cox, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion that he carried throughout his life.

Steve enjoyed gardening, and his love for fishing, hunting, and golf was a source of countless stories and dad jokes that he shared with anyone who would listen. His humor was infectious, and his stories will be retold and cherished by those who were lucky enough to hear them. He enjoyed playing the guitar for his family and friends. He also had a talent for carpentry.

Above all, Steve will be remembered as a funny, loving, and kind man. His presence was a gift to those who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Steve’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and service, and his memory will be honored as a blessing to all who were touched by his generous spirit.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS from 10:00 am until 12:00 PM with the service at noon. Bro. George Owens will officiate the service with interment following in White Oak Cemetery.
