Magee High School Trojans won against the Morton Panthers Friday, November 13, 2020.

The win advances the Trojans to the third round of playoffs.

Magee won the opening toss and deferred the ball until the second half.

Morton drove the ball down the field only to be stopped deep inside the Trojans territory.

With 6:52 left in the first half Magee scored on a rushing touchdown by #2 Chandler Pittman. The point after attempt was no good and the Trojans lead by a score of 6-0.

With less than a minute left in the first quarter, Morton drove down the field and in scoring range when a bad snap goes over the head of the Panther quarterback. The snap resulted in a fumble and Trojans take  possession.

With 9:42 left in the second quarter #2 Pittman makes contact with #1 Cayden Bridges scoring a touchdown. The two-point conversion by #2 Pittman was good. Magee increased their lead by a score of 14-0.

Morton would not go into halftime quietly. With 3:18 remaining in the half, Morton scored on a long rushing touchdown. The point after attempt was good. The score was Magee 14 – Morton 7.

Third quarter the Panthers would kick off and attempt an onside kick. The Panthers were successful and recovered the ball mid field. The recovery would result in a later field goal. Morton closed the gap in the score with Magee still leading by a score of 14-10.

The Trojans drove the ball down field to the twenty yard line. Next play resulted in an interception. Things looked to be going Morton’s way third quarter.

The Trojans came to life during the fourth quarter. With 9:29 left in the game, #1 Cayden Bridges found the end zone scoring again. The point after attempt by Dyess was good. Magee increased their lead by a score of 21-10.

Magee was not finished yet. #2 Pittman scored on a quarterback keeper. The point after attempt was no good. Magee sealed the win with a score of 27-10. The touchdown was the 99th career touchdown for Pittman.

Coach Dyess stated “Great team win. Morton was very physical and tough. We answered the call.”

Magee will travel to face a very good Raleigh team Friday, November 20, 2020.

The largest obstacle for Magee at present time is keeping everyone safe and game ready eligible during this time of COVID.
