Magee High School made the short trip down Hwy 49 to play Collins in a non-district game.

The Trojans won by a score of 32-6.

Rain held off for the game but fell earlier making the field very soggy for play.

Magee won the toss and deferred the ball until second half.

First score of the evening came from the defense when #10 Gavin Drones for Magee recovered a fumble in the end zone. The point after attempt by #21 Chapin was good. Magee took an early lead by a score of 7-0.

Second quarter would be productive for the Trojans.  With 11:29 remaining in the half #23 Jawon Shaw for Magee scored on a 2-yard run. #21 Chafin’s point after attempt was good. Magee added additional points to the lead by a score of 14-0.

Trojans scored again with 6:26 remaining in the half when #23 Shaw crossed the goal line on a 4-yard run. The point after attempt by #21 Chafin was blocked. Trojans were on top by a score of 20-0.

#3  Tristen Newsome completed a 35-yard pass to #5 Jaylen Floyd for a touchdown. The point after attempt was not good. Magee increased their lead by a score of 26-0 entering halftime.

Collins kicked off to the Trojans to start the second half.

Several younger Trojans found action during the second half. Magee would score one last time on the evening in the third quarter when #2 Jameylan Spencer scored on a 2-yard run. The point after attempt was not good. Magee led by a score of 32-0.

Collins found the end zone with 3:03 minutes remaining in regulation. Magee would seal the victory by a score of 32-6.

Coach Zack Jones stated “Glad to get a win. Our defense was lights out again and our offense is improving. We still need to clean up offensively to get where we want to be.”

Magee will be on the road next week against Yazoo City.
