Magee High School’s Homecoming game was an exciting event! The Trojans came back with a win Friday night, October 5, 2018, against the Raleigh Lions. The game was Magee’s second district game and their first district win. Magee’s Homecoming brought together a few of the Alumni Trojan cheerleaders as well as the junior high cheerleaders to support our boys.

To start the game, the Trojans won the coin toss and kicked the ball. The kickoff was caught by Margo Perkins, #2, for Raleigh who then ran 85 yards and scored a touchdown in the first play of the game. Raleigh attempted an extra point which failed. Despite Raleigh’s first play touchdown success, the Trojans dominated the game.  Javo Thurman, #3, after receiving the ball, passed to Matthew Thurman, #13, who ran for a 15 yard touchdown! The extra point was kicked by Sam Rials, #19, and it was good! Ross McInnis, #5, scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, both of which were runs at the 1-yard line. Only one of Sam Rials, #19, extra point kicks were good bringing the first quarter score to 20-6.

In the second quarter, Javo Thurman, #3, completed a pass to Chandler Pittman, #2, who ran 6 yards to score a touchdown. The Trojans attempted to score an extra point, but the pass failed. Raleigh’s Margo Perkins, #2, scored a touchdown after receiving the ball from Zedric Keyes, #16, and running 10 yards. Similar to the Trojans’ attempt at extra points, the pass from Raleigh failed and no extra points were scored for the Lions. Ending the second quarter with Magee leading Raleigh 26-12.

At halftime, fans of both the Trojans and the Lions were graced with the beauty of the Magee High School Homecoming Court. The two freshmen maids, Sarah Craft and Zykeria Cole, lead the ceremony followed by Sophomore maids Keyara Durr and Vyronyca Lee, then the Junior maids, Ashanti Brown and Macie West, proceeded after. Magee’s Senior and Football Maids, Gabby Hawkins, Cynahmon Lee, Quintory Holloway, Rashara Floyd, and Aaliyah Walker, walked down the 50 yard line, each hoping to leave the field with a crown. Football maid, Aaliyah Walker, was the lovely lady to be crowned by Magee’s 2017 Homecoming Queen, Mia Davis.

The third quarter was full of excitement.  Javo Thurman, #3, for Magee, received the ball in the third quarter. He ran 10 yards and scored a touchdown with no extra points. The Trojans lined up a 38 yard field goal. Sam Rials’, # 19, kick was good, scoring three points for the Trojans. Raleigh’s Margo Perkins, #2, received the ball from Zedric Keyes, #16, to run 65 yards into the end zone scoring for Raleigh.  The Lions attempted to run the ball for extra points but failed ending the third quarter 35-18 still in Magee’s favor.

The last points in the game were scored in the fourth quarter. Javo Thurman, #3, received the ball and passed to Josh Sanders, #1. Sanders then ran 15 yards to score a touchdown. Sam Rials, #19, kicked an extra point for the Trojans. The final score was 42-18 with the Trojans receiving their first district victory!
