TROJANS DEFEAT COBRAS 41-27

The Trojans air raid was on full display Friday night as Triston Newsome threw for 6 touchdowns to help the Trojans win an important district game.   The bombs began to drop early as on the Trojans first possession Newsome connected with Kyerston Tucker on a 50-yard pass for the TD.  Gavyn Chafin was good on the PAT and it was 7-0.  On the next offensive possession, Newsome connected with Gregory.   A bad snap resulted in a failed PAT and it was 13-0 Trojans.   The Defense came up big on the Cobras’ next possession as they stopped them on fourth and goal on the 1-yard line.    The Cobras’ high-flying offense came in averaging 30.5 points per game and the Trojans’ Defense pitched a shutout in the first half.

Wesson would take the opening kickoff in the second half and march down the field.  Will Loy would score from 3 yards out.  The PAT was no good and it was 13-6.  The Trojans would strike back quickly on a 50-yard pass to DaQuon Levy.  Chafin’s PAT was good and it was 20-6 Magee.  That is how the third quarter would end.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Wesson’s offense continued to come alive and Will Loy would punch it in again.  The PAT was good and it was 20-13.   As they did all night, the Trojans Offense would respond.   Newsome connected with Levy again and after the PAT the Trojans were up 27-13 with 6 minutes to go.   DeMichael Green would recover a Wesson fumble and the Trojans offense took advantage when Newsome connected on a touchdown pass to Kyerston Tucker.   Gavyn Chafin connected again on the PAT and it was 34-13.   The Trojans would cause another Wesson turnover and they looked to take the district contest across the finish line.  But, they would turn it right back over to the Cobras.   Wesson would score quickly on TD pass from Loy to Johnson.  It was 34-20 Trojans.     Magee would tack on another score after Newsome connected with Tucker and it was 41-20.   With under a minute to go, Omari Johnson would return the kickoff for the Cobras to the Trojan 3-yard line.  Loy would score and after the PAT it was 41-27.  That would be the final score.

The Trojans improved to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the district.   They will travel to Crystal Springs for the final regular season game. The game will be played on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.   It is hard to believe that the playoffs are right around the corner.    The Trojans will look this Thursday to continue to build momentum and finish strong.
