Tigers Would Not Allow 4-Peat

When it comes to Magee/Mendenhall game, all records or who is the best and who is not is ignored. The team who wants the win the most is usually who is victorious.

For Mendenhall Friday night that was the case. After three straight years of defeat, the Tigers were determined not to be beat.

Magee won the toss and chose to receive the opening kick off. With 4:45 left in the first half Mendenhall would find the end zone first. 2-point conversion was good Mendenhall takes lead 8-0. Second quarter Mendenhall would fumble on the 50 yard line and #18 Dwight Wilson, will recover for Magee. Magee would score with 9:46 left in the first half. Two-point conversion was no good. Mendenhall remains on top 8-6. Mendenhall fumbled on Magee’s 38-yard line and Jonathon Blackwell recovered for the Trojans. Unable to score, Magee punted to the Tigers. Mendenhall would fumble again and R J Hopkins for the Trojans would recover. With 4:21 remaining in the half, Magee found the end zone one more time. 2-Point conversion was no good Trojans take the lead 12-8. Mendenhall could not be stopped. 2:54 left in half Tigers scored to take the lead to 16-12. After scoring, Mendenhall kicked off to Magee, where Magee fumbled and Tigers took over. Mendenhall capitalized on the turnover and scored with 1:18 left in the half. 2-point conversion was good Mendenhall on top 24-12. Just as it looked like both teams would head to the locker room for half Magee fumbled again and Mendenhall capitalized scoring. Mendenhall increases the lead 30-12.

Second half Magee kicked off to Mendenhall. Mendenhall punted on fourth down for a 2-yard punt from the 35-yard line of Mendenhall. Magee took over and drove down to inside the five-yard line. Magee was unable to able to score on 4th and goal. Mendenhall takes over on downs. With 2:56 left in the third quarter Magee would score. 2-point conversion was no good. After touchdown score was Mendenhall 30 Magee 18. With 12 seconds left in the quarter Mendenhall crossed the goal line on more time to bring the score 38-18. Fourth quarter Magee scored one last time with 2:40 left in regulation to bring the final score 38-26.

Mendenhall left Trojan field as the 2016 Simpson County Super Bowl Champions.
