Police Chief Chris Jones reported at the February 1, 2022 City of Magee Board of Aldermen meeting that 3 shootings took place in the City within one week.
1. January 25th an individual was shot in the back near Overflow Church merely 200 yards from the site of the homicide on February 1st. Two bullet holes were found in the church van.
2. January 27th a domestic violence issue arose when a female went to retrieve her belongings from her ex-boyfriend ‘s home on Dry Creek Road outside of the city limits. Due to an alleged escalation in the situation, the female got in her vehicle and drove off, the male followed her into Magee and fired shots at her near the school on Fifth Avenue SE. No one was struck. The male was arrested and has since bonded out and the case will be presented to the next Grand Jury. This occurred about 560 yards from the Magee Police Department.
3. February 1st, about 3:30 a.m., the homicide of a 38 year old male at the laundromat on south Main Street near the funeral home was discovered. A search of the businesses and homes within four blocks of this incident did not find a single working camera including a camera right at the sight of the incident. This is located about 375 yards from the Magee Police Department per Google Earth. A subsequent search warrant was served in Covington County.
Chief Jones also reported the 3 new Explorers have arrived and are being outfitted to police requirements.  Once the new Explorers are ready, the city will have 5 Explorers in the police fleet.
Chief Jones encouraged all businesses to install cameras.

Brad Was my Friend In the Biker Brotherhood He was One of My Brothers, What has it come to in Magee! This young man never harmed anyone, Did not abuse drugs, Sis not cause trouble. And to be murdered by some filthy Cowards While just doing his laundry to make an honest living, Something I’m sure those cowards knew nothing about. I only pray that your found or I’m contacted with a name or a lead into why and who. Then I can promise you’ll never see me in the darkness. I made my Bones before my friends murderers were even born . Only a coward kills like this, Anyone knowing anything contact me. There is all kinds of justice. See everything Bradley was I’m not! And I’ve no mercy for cowards. It’s a sad thing for me to say But I wish Jesus Jones was still Sheriff he had a way of finding cowards and it looks like Magee (Simpson County) needs another Lloyd Jones now . I swear Justice if I learn the name of the G-Rat cowards that did this. Chief I always loved Magee growing up Find these cowards Do as Jones would do, I admit he was not PC but he got the job done. RIP My Brother Brad. L&R Your Brother Tiger
