The Mississippi College softball team had three student-athletes named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region Teams, it was announced on Wednesday (May 10).

Junior Katherine Lee (Monroe, La.) and freshman Carly Crawford (Hattiesburg, Miss.) were First Team selections, while senior Tylan Buckley (Philadelphia, Miss.) was named to the Second Team for the newly crowned Gulf South Conference Tournament champions.

This year’s all-region squads were comprised of 210 student-athletes from 116 programs and were chosen by a vote of the head coaches in each region. The 2017 NFCA Division II All-American teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 24 at the NCAA Division II Championship Banquet in Salem, Va.

The former Oak Grove HS standout was named a First Team All-Gulf South Conference selection last week and earned a spot on the GSC All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the championship run.

The First Team All-GSC selection ranks 2nd in MC history with 22 career home runs and her .668 career slugging percentage is the 2nd-best in school history.

The Lady Choctaws are headed to the NCAA Division II South Regional 1 this week in Pensacola, Fla., hosted by the University of West Florida. They open the tournament on Thursday against GSC foe Valdosta State at 4:00 p.m.
