The tassel has been turned on yet another graduating class. The Class of 2016 has officially graduated.

Simpson County Academy graduated Friday, May 13, 2016 inside Simpson County Academy Gymnasium.

DSC_2073The invocation was led my Matthew Harrison, followed by Maggie Wallace welcoming everyone to the ceremony.

Jamie May along with his daughter, Callie May, sang “Forever Young” and both did an excellent job.

Cullen Shows, Historian, gave the history of the graduating class. Out of the 41 graduates, 10 of the seniors originally started at Simpson. Out of a graduating class of forty-one, thirty-one were MS Scholars, and thirty graduated with honors.

Peyton Neely gave his Salutatorian Address, and Katelynn Cliburn presented the Valedictorian Address.

Chaucer Funchess gave the Charge to the seniors.

Head Master, Billy Wayne Hankins, certified all seniors. Hankins also spoke how this class as well as others before them was such a great class, academically and all round. After the certification Billy Wayne Hankins and Marney Walker presented Diplomas to the graduates

DSC_2074After all Diplomas were presented Ms. Logan Prather led the Benediction.

As all seniors exited to the opposite end of the gym each student presented their parents with a rose.

Senior Class officers are: President – Payton Neely, Vice President – Katelynn Cliburn, Secretary Mallory Cooper, Treasurer – Maggie Wallace, Reporter- Bailey Bryant.

Hall of Fame – Peyton Neely, Katelynn Cliburn, Matt Harrison, Mallory Cooper, Cullen Shows.

Class Flower – Forget Me Nots

Class Song – “In These Halls”

Class Colors – Butter Yellow, and Navy Blue

Class Motto – “Together we have experienced life, separately we will pursue our dreams, and forever our memories remain.”DSC_2078
