The Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting of February 13, 2015, was called to order at 9 a.m. and opened with prayer.

All supervisors were present.

J.M. Hooker, Road Manager, presented the Road Manager’s Monthly Report, which was approved. Mr. Hooker requested easements for ditch work to be done on the following roads: Clayton Clark, John Stanley, John McCoy, and Larry Ainsworth. All of these easements were approved by the board.

Sheriff Kenneth Lewis asked the board’s approval for pay roll changes on Brandon Lovitt a part-time detention officer to a full-time. Sheriff Lewis also asked the board to approve pay roll changes to the following people: Michael Brent, Lindsey Jaynes, Courtney James, Mario McNair, Kevin McLeod, and Lida Perkins from non-certified pay to certified detention officers.

Also, Lewis asked the board to approve Jessica Mcoulter as part-time dispatcher and Lashonda Mabry as a part-time certified dispatcher. The board approved all of Sherriff Lewis requests with none opposed.

Sheriff Lewis also informed the board that the Simpson County Sherriff’s Department received the ACA certification on the jail. Lewis stated, “This is one of the highest certifications we can receive, and I can count on one hand how many jails actually have their ACA certification.”

Mr. Tommy Joe Harvey, Chancery Clerk, informed the board that he had received his certificated of attendance at the Mississippi Judicial College on February 10 – 12, 2015, for the Chancery Court Seminar.

Mr. Rhuel Dickinson, County Administrator, presented his agenda of board authorizations. The board approved all of Dickinson’s agenda.

The board meeting was recessed until Monday, March 2, 2015.
