The Scriptural passage selected today is found in Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Jesus told His disciples before His crucifixion that He would send a Comforter, a Guide (the Holy Spirit). For the Christian, we know the power of the Comforter, especially during times of trials and tribulations. He is there to soothe and bind up our wounds and provide healing comfort when we most need it. Rely on the Holy Spirit to do His work. Call upon Him and experience the rejuvenating power only He can provide. “Come, Holy Spirit, I need You. Come, Sweet Spirit, I pray. Come in Your strength and Your power; come in Your own gentle way.” I do love that gospel song by Bill Gaither. Amen!
