The Magee Chamber of Commerce has chosen Ted Allen and Oliver McLean for induction into the Magee Chamber Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place at the annual chamber banquet which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 22nd beginning at 6:00 PM at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church.

Ted is a Magee native. He graduated from Magee High School in 1958 and Mississippi College in 1962. Ted married his high school sweetheart, Jean Womack (also a Magee gal!). They are the parents of two children: Ted Pruitt Allen, Jr and Allyson Allen Burch and grandparents to six grandchildren!

Ted joined Central Wholesale, the family business in 1962. In 1995 the business became an Ace Hardware Store. Most “locals” still refer to his business as Central Wholesale.  Most days, you can still find Ted at “Central” working!

Ted is a life time active member of First Baptist Church  and has been a member of the deacon council  for 45 years .   He served with the Magee Volunteer Fire Department for 33 years. Ted has remained involved in Magee and the chamber always!

One of the many things I love about Ted is his story-telling. Almost every time I see Ted, he tells me a story about my daddy…and you know that makes me happy.

Oliver McLean may not have “grown up” in Magee…but we count him as a Magee man through and through!

Oliver graduated from Tchula High School in 1960 and Delta State University in 1964. In 1967 he married Donna McCullough of Pasadena, CA. In 1979, Donna and Oliver moved to Magee where he became President of Bank of Simpson County (which eventually became PriorityOne Bank). Following 9 years “out of banking,” Oliver joined Peoples Bank and hasn’t left yet!

Oliver has been very active in both the city and county. He served as President of the Simpson County Development Foundation, President of the Magee Chamber of Commerce, President of the Magee Lions Club, and President of the Adopt-A-School program.

Oliver has always had a special place in his heart for Main Street Magee, working hard to promote and preserve the area.

Oliver and Donna are the parents of one son, David and 3 grandchildren.

Our chamber did an outstanding job selecting these two fine men to join the Magee Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame.
