The Mississippi Supreme Court on May 17 issued an order denying a motion to provide a class-action procedure in Mississippi state trial courts.

Here is a link to the Motion to Amend Rule 23 of the Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure, filed on April 20, 2017, by attorney Richard T. Phillips of Batesville: https://courts.ms.gov/newsite2/appellatecourts/docket/sendPDF.php?f=400_306344.pdf&c=30208&a=N&s=2 target=.

For your background, here is a link to the Administrative Office of Courts’  announcement last year that the Supreme Court had put the rule proposal out for public comment:https://courts.ms.gov/Newsite2/news/2017/05.23.17class%20action%20public%20comments.php. (The public comment period was extended.) Public comments submitted to the court regarding the proposed Rule 23 amendment may be viewed under Supreme Court docket number 89 R 99001 via a case search on the Mississippi Judiciary website, https://courts.ms.gov.
