Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Monday, March 4, 2019 for their regular scheduled meeting.
Greg Reynolds presented the Sheriff request for approval of Access Control Group maintenance contract renewal for door entrance cards in the amount of $1920.00. Approval was granted by the board. Approval was given to re-hire Landon Ates as a part time certified deputy at a rate of $11.55 hourly. Approval was granted to hire Katheryn McMillan part time certified deputy at a rate of $11.55 hourly. Approval was given for Fred Williams to attend the American Jail Association conference.
The board approved the schedule of the MDOT Annual Maintenance Inspection as required by law on Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15, 2019.
The board approved the bids fro the dump bodies for the the three new dump trucks chassis ordered from the sate contract to replace three Mack trucks due to the guaranteed buy-back on June 6, 2019. The lowest bid was $16,250 each for a total price of $48,750 from Warren, Inc.
The board approved the agreement with Harris/Delta Computer Systems to host the Chancery Clerk’s land records on line for consumers to access. The cost is $2,500 for wet-up and training fee and then $300 per month maintenance fee. The board approved the renewal of the AVG Cloud Care Anti-Virus 12-month license subscription for 80 computers.
The board approved the annual maintenance agreement with Taylor Power Systems for genitor maintenance and service.
The board approved for all Supervisors and staff to attend the MS Association of Supervisors Annual Educational Convention in Biloxi, MS, June 10-14, 2019. Approval was granted for County Veterans’ Service Officer, Leo Windham, to attend training at Camp Shelby on March 7, 2019.
The board approved to pay the US Department of Labor, Wage and Hour division, back wage disbursement and pay evidence instruction for unpaid overtime in the Sherriff’s Office and jail discovered while Simpson County Staff conducted a self-audit. Unpaid overtime plus matching for 2016, 2017 and 2018 totaling $44,916.83 in the Sherriff’s Office and $43,235.22 in the Jail. The overtime back-wages and matching have been paid, but penalties have not been assessed.
With no further business meeting was recessed until March 15, 2019.
