    December 6th 2022

Tuesday morning, at approximately 8:09 am, Simpson County dispatch received a 911 call from officials with Mendenhall High School to report a stabbing.

Simpson County Sheriff’s deputies along with Covington County Ambulance Service arrived shortly after.  School staff members had already separated two students

and secured the immediate area.

Deputies learned that two 16-year-old female students were fighting in a bathroom and the fight escalated which resulted in one of the girls suffering multiple stab wounds.

The injured student was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and was in stable condition and talking. The other student was taken into custody and will be transported to

a detention center pending an appearance in Simpson County Youth Court.  School officials along with sheriff’s investigators will continue investigating this incident.
