LAUREL, Miss. – October 20, 2025 – South Central Regional Medical Center is pleased to name Kendal Goodrich as the Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2025.
Goodrich is a system engineer who has worked for the SCRMC IT Department since 2017. He has, however, worked in the world of IT since 2003, when he began his career at Jefferson Medical.
His nomination for HEART Champion, which was submitted by a member of the South Central Human Resources staff, was full of positive anecdotes about his work ethic, character and commitment to the organization.
SCRMC President and CEO Gregg Gibbes presented Goodrich with the award and read the nomination, which said, “Kendal has demonstrated time and time again his ability to be adaptable, finding creative ways to connect our systems with minimal disruption. When things often seem insurmountable, this individual is always a shoulder to lean on. He has gone the extra mile to provide calm, steady advice.”
Goodrich’s role is vital to the organization, which literally could not run without individuals like Goodrich troubleshooting technological issues in the background.
“You have been here for 22 years, and you have seen quite a few system changes,” Gregg Gibbes said. “One thing is for sure, there will always be changes. Thank you for standing in the gap for 22 years of implementations.”
Health care organizations rely not only on trained medical professionals but also on essential support staff, such as environmental services, accounting and IT, in order to create a positive patient experience.
“I am good at what I do, and I enjoy doing it,” said Goodrich. “I enjoy solving problems and keeping stuff going. I like my coworkers. They are an awesome team to work with and for, and they definitely help make my job easier.”
The process of choosing who receives the Employee of the Quarter distinction begins with an internal nomination process, which is open to any member of the SCRMC staff who wishes to submit a peer for consideration. Then the winner is chosen through a voting process by a committee of individuals from across the organization.
The four individuals who will be chosen as Employees of the Quarter throughout the year will be eligible for Employee of the Year, which will be announced during National Hospital Week in May 2026.
