What a treat to have Congressman Michael Guest, our 3rd District Representative, drop by MageeNews for a good old-fashioned “sit-down”! We caught up on life in Washington and what it’s really like serving as one of Mississippi’s voices in Congress.

Of course, the government shutdown was the hot topic of the day. Congressman Guest didn’t mince words—he emphasized the importance of staying the course with President Donald Trump, adding, “Many things are hidden in the bill the Democrats would like passed… we must be accountable.”

We spent time talking about opportunities for Magee, Mendenhall, D’Lo, and Harrisville, especially the need for grants to strengthen our local infrastructure. Congressman Guest is well aware of the aging systems in all four cities and is determined to help.

He also shared details about plans to modernize emergency communication systems right here in Simpson County. (After our chat, he met with the emergency management team to continue those discussions.)

The Congressman lit up when talking about progress at the Border, proudly noting, “We have made great strides in this area.”

If you want to see the full conversation, check out the video — it says it better than I ever could!

Congressman Guest encourages all Mississippians to reach out to his office for help with Social Security, VA benefits, passports, or any federal issues.
