Simpson General Hospital Reports Updates and Improvements
MENDENHALL, MS — The staff and leadership at Simpson General Hospital have worked tirelessly over the past three years to make improvements to the hospital, both in the areas of patient care and fiscal responsibility. SGH is pleased to offer details to the community on these updates.

Gregg Gibbes, Simpson General CEO, states, “We made a concerted effort to modernize the hospital on the inside and outside in recent years. New signage and facade updates to our medical plaza across the street from the hospital have made that area more comfortable and easier to navigate for our patients.”
Other recent updates include:
- New telemetry monitor and upgrades to existing monitors
- New X-ray equipment and portable X-ray equipment
- New ultrasound machine
- New conference room, training center, and office space
- New van for SGH personnel to provide vaccinations and other services to the community
The most visible update to the SGH organization is the addition of the SGH Drive-Thru Clinic, located across the street from the main hospital. Cemper Scott, Community Relations Coordinator, states, “We opened the clinic during the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in an effort to offer testing and vaccinations to patients in the isolation of their vehicles, and it proved so successful that we chose to keep it open and expand it to all types of patient care. Our patients love the convenience of being served in their cars.”
David Massey, SGH Chairman of the Board, states, “From July 2019 to July 2022, Simpson General has doubled our cash on hand and increased staffing by more than 30 percent. In addition, we’ve increased revenues on average of $4.9 million per year. All of this while maintaining a superior level of patient care, which is our most important responsibility.”
