MENDENHALL, MS — Simpson General Hospital will be undergoing an extensive renovation project beginning in September 2025. The construction process will take a year and will result in notable improvements to the interior and exterior of the hospital.

“Our hospital is a cornerstone of Simpson County, providing healthcare to our community for 68 years,” said Simpson General CEO Gregg Gibbes. “We are thrilled to be able to make these improvements that will enhance our services and the overall patient experience. We want our patients to know they will always receive top-quality care at SGH.”

The renovations will include:

Interior:

– 21 patient suites with showers

– New lab facility

– Enlarged pharmacy

– Enlarged lobby

– New gift shop

– Relocated and renovated physical therapy department

Exterior:

– Repainted facility

– New portico

– Parking lot improvements

“We would like to thank Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith for her attention to our rural healthcare systems. Without her unwavering support, we would not be able to offer these upgrades for our community members needing local medical care,” said Gibbes.

Simpson General provides more than 250 jobs and treats over 33,000 patients annually including approximately 16,000 patients annually from its four clinics.

“Very few businesses achieve true longevity and continuity, yet for over 67 years, Simpson General Hospital has stood as a stalwart in our community,” said David Massey, Chairman Simpson General Hospital Board of Directors. “Beyond the invaluable care delivered each day, our hospital annually generates a $14.5 million payroll, $26.3 million in indirect employment, and provides $1.6 million in uncompensated charity care, totaling a remarkable $42.5 million in yearly economic impact. This groundbreaking is a testament to our enduring commitment and our vision for an even brighter future, expanding our reach and enhancing the exceptional care our

professionals provide across central, western, and northern Simpson County and a portion of Rankin County.”
