Simpson Academy girls Cross Country team has again made us proud!
Simpson had three girls place in the top ten at Tuesday’s meet in Clinton.
Sabra Hubbard placed 6th, Mary Margaret Rankin placed 8th, and Anna Kaitlyn Ashley placed 10th.
The girls’ team finished runner-up!
Cross Country running is a very disciplined sport,
in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain. The course, typically 4–12 kilometres (2.5–7.5 mi) long, may include surfaces of grass, and earth, pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills, flat ground and sometimes gravel road.
CC is both an individual and a team sport; runners are judged on individual times and teams by a points-scoring method. Both men and women of all ages compete in cross country.
Simpson’s team is young. Students are encouraged to begin CC at an early age. Dr. Wyck Neely and Dr. Angel Overstreet are the team’s coaches.
Congratulations girls!!!
