021Simpson County Technical Center is featuring its Metal Fabrications Program. Pictured is instructor, Kirk Sullivan, in the Metal Fabrications lab at the center. The Metal Fabrications program is part of the Manufacturing Cluster and is designed for students preparing to enter the field of metalworking. It includes an introduction to the basic machining metalworking processes, as well as an introduction to the basic welding profession. Students in the Metal Fabrications program have the option of joining SkillsUSA, the student organization for career and technical students enrolled in this program Through SkillsUSA membership, students have the opportunity to showcase skills learned at various competitions at the district, state, and national levels. Additionally, SkillsUSA assists students in building the personal capacity to become outstanding workers, effective leaders, and caring citizens. Mr. Sullivan is the SkillsUSA sponsor for this program.

Simpson County Technical Center is proud to spotlight Austin Kennedy, a third year Metal Fabrications student and a senior enrolled at Magee High School. Austin is a SkillsUSA member and is pictured preparing for a welding exercise in the lab.
