According to Simpson County Sheriff Department, a call was received around 2 A.M. stating that a woman had been shot on Pine Grove Road in Simpson county near Magee. (742 Pine Grove Road)
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the woman lying in the yard near the roadway. The victim was immediately dispatched to Magee Hospital then flown by helicopter to UMMC.
Apparently the shooting took place in the house and the woman collapsed when she ran outside.
The victim has been identified at Gloria Wells.
No arrest has been made, but the man at the house is being held for questioning. Police said the incident appears to be a domestic dispute.
According to UMMC, Wells is in stable condition.
