  • Simpson Countians:

I have good news form Simpson School Board. Last night in regular and open session we voted unanimously to proceed with major improvements of our facilities. I believe you all will be pleased overall with the plan. We have hired Gary Bailey as architect for the work and have authorized him to proceed with preparing drawings and specifications. Mr Bailey estimates the work we need to do will cost $18,604,348. We have funds available without any more borrowing or tax increases. Our finance director, Sheila Copeland recommended we set aside $20,140,742 from our District Maintenance, 16th section interest,District infrastructure, and 3 mill note accounts to be available to fund the work.
I have attached Mr Bailey’s estimate and scope and Sheila Copeland’s proposed means of funding for your review.
I want to personally thank our Superintendent of Education, Dr Robert Sanders for his diligence and common sense in planning this work within our budget constraints.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Ray Floyd
