As the beautiful sun set tonight upon Trojan Field, children’s spirits were high as they celebrated Destination Graduation.  Students from all over Simpson county filled the Magee Trojan Field to represent their graduating class.

The Magee High School Marching Band opened the ceremony as they played The Star Spangled Banner.  Mendenhall High School’s Kelsha Loftin, a recent winner of the Max Preps Athlete of the Week Award led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.  The Magee High School Student Body President, Caleb Lee led a short devotion and prayer.  He offered the attendees 3 key words, “Remember, Obey, and Dream”.  He also read Proverbs 3:5-7.

Everyone’s focus was then to the field as the administration of the Simpson County schools participated in a friendly competition.  Principal Sanders and Assistant Principal Feazell of Mendenhall won the competition of catching marshmallows in their team members bucket on top of their head.

Mendenhall and Magee Junior High principals were then asked to center field.  Their task was to knock down as many bottles as they could in a minute or the first to knock down all bottles using an apple tied to a string and attached to a popsicle stick in their mouth.   Kirby Craft of Mendenhall beat Dr. Bell in this game.

Dr. Lawrence of Magee Elementary and Rhonda Berry of Mendenhall Elementary had to take their balloon from the middle of the field towards the end zone.  The key was they could not carry the balloon, just swat the balloon with their palms.  Rhonda Berry of Mendenhall won this challenge.

Lastly, all principals and directors paired up for the final competition.  The object of this game was to toss cheetos onto the shower cap of their partner which was covered with whipped cream.  Simpson Central Assistant Principal Joe Hanna and Associate Superintendent for Federal Programs, Misty Hanna were the winners of this event.

Students then gathered on the field as their graduating class year was called they ran with excitement through their senior year class banner.

The Magee Trojans, 2015 winner of the Simpson County Super Bowl, were recognized.

Ten students from Magee and ten from Mendenhall were recognized for academic excellence. From Magee High School, Kaitlyn Tuggle; Beth Brown; Carriane White; Jessica Sanford; Wesley McCool; Caleb Lee; Lauren Grantham; Mitch Maddox; Kyle Curlee; and Ashlyn Walker.  Students from Mendenhall, Dean Dickerson; Cydni Weathersby; Micha McCoy; Lila Grace Hanna; Gillian Jinkins; McKayla Butler; Kayla Paige Liddell; Joseph Tyler Johnston; Chance Harrison Layton; and Jerica Granderson.

The Citizen of the Year for the City of Magee and Vice President for Simpson County Branch of Copiah Lincoln Community College, Dr. Dewayne Middleton, spoke with encouraging words to the crowd.

The Simpson Central Dance Team, the Tigerettes, led the people on the field to the Electric Slide Dance.  The dance was filmed and will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Electric Slide Dance.

Remember students to study hard and do your best and to put God first in your life.
