A Mercy House Adult & Teen Challenge aftercare home was destroyed by fire Wednesday night after the residence was struck by lightning.
The home, which provided housing for Mercy House program graduates and staff members, was completely destroyed along with its contents.
Thankfully, everyone inside the home was able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported.
Mercy House CEO Matt Milliman expressed gratitude that the residents were safe while asking the community to remember the organization and those affected by the loss in prayer.
The aftercare program is an important part of the Mercy House ministry, providing continued support and a place to live for individuals who have completed the program as they move forward with their lives.
While the loss of the home and its contents is significant, the greatest blessing is that no lives were lost and no one was injured.
Mercy House is now assessing the situation and determining what steps will be taken in the days ahead.
