The Simpson County Board of Supervisors Meeting was held Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
County Engineer Buddy Wolverton gave the following report concerning all State-Aid and LSBP Projects.
LBBP-64(22) – Jake Barnes Road (Bridge)
All items of construction are complete. Have requested final inspection.
SAP-64(16) M – Surface Maintenance) Cato Road
- 27.41% Complete
- 15.00 % Elapse Time
- Contractor has completed base repairs and leveling
SAP-64(19)S – Surface Maintenance Mt. Zion to Shivers Road and St. Johns Road.
- 36.72 % Complete
- 21.82 % Elapsed Time
- Contractor has completed base repairs and leveling.
LSBP-64(23) (Bridge Replacement ) Sofa Road
- Working on P.S. & E. Assembly. Have mailed out utility agreements
- Can start acquiring right of way
SAP-64(64) – Grade Drain, Base and Surface) Star – Braxton Road
- P.S. & E. Inspection held of August 19, 2020 Can start acquiring right of way
The board approved to to pay $50 fee increase for election resolution board workers for the elections occurring from July 1, 2020 through December 31, 202, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The board approved the renewal of the ERSI ArcGIS user license for the Tax Assessor’s Office for $505 for the term of 11-20-20 through 11-19-21.
Approval was given for the renewal of membership for Amanda Blakeney to the Mississippi Association of Extension 4-H Agents.
The board amended previous request to purchase 11 tablets instead of the 10 that were previous approved. The additional tablet will give Charlie Welch, Information Technology Manager, a tablet to assist with technical assistance.
The board approved the emergency purchase of 5 laptops computers with the CARES Comm-Tech Solutions Incorporation in the amount of $6,550.00.
The board approved in a 3-2 vote to bury a horse. Mr. Craft and Mr. Chatman were the opposing voters.
Region 8 came before the board for their required annual meeting to see if the board had concerns or questions for the Region 8 representatives.
Emergency Manager John Killpatrick advised the CARES money was being spent to purchase video equipment, laptops, and wiring. Killpatrick has applied for $30,000 reimbursement with FEMA for monies spent during the pandemic.
